Becky Porteous, our Chief Executive Officer, brings a diverse background and wealth of experience to our team. With a decade-long tenure in the seismic industry from 1982 to 1992, Becky honed her skills in data management and sales, overseeing data inventory and sales operations.

In 1992, Becky took a hiatus from the workplace to focus on raising her two sons until the youngest entered middle school. Upon her return to the workforce, she assumed the role of Accounting Manager for two Houston-based non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting park spaces until 2022. In this capacity, Becky oversaw financial operations, including bookkeeping, reporting, budgeting, and audits.

Amid Ikatech’s expansion and the rising complexity of its financial operations, Becky made a strategic move to join the company as the Accounting Manager in 2022. Her role is crucial in providing financial guidance and support. This commitment to streamlining internal functions led her to assuming the role of CEO, empowering the Chief Technical Officer to concentrate on operational processes and driving Ikatech’s efficiency and growth trajectory.

Stuart Porteous, our Chief Technical Officer, brings a wealth of expertise to the table with a New Zealand Certificate in Engineering (Telecommunications) and over 35 years of experience in Seismic Exploration. His focus lies primarily in Marine Streamer and Transition Zone acquisition.

With a commendable tenure spanning 22 years at Western Geophysical and Schlumberger, Stuart has held various leadership positions, including managing Navigation Services and overseeing Acquisition Project Management. Notably, he served as VP Operations at NCS SubSea, guiding the company from inception in 2005 to generating over $8 million in revenue through global operations.

Stuart’s career also includes significant roles such as Survey Project Manager at BHP Billiton and Senior Vice President of Marine Sales and Marketing at SES. Presently, he serves as our Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Managing Member at Ikatech LLC.

As our CTO, Stuart leads with a strategic vision and deep industry insight, driving innovation and excellence across our operations.

Steve Gowen boasts over 35 years of invaluable experience in the seismic industry. Beginning his journey in 1989 at Western Geophysical, Steve quickly ascended the ranks from Base Station Operator to Chief Navigator and Party Chief, overseeing operations on numerous large-capacity seismic vessels and OBN projects.

Throughout his career, Steve has collaborated with esteemed seismic companies including Western Geophysical, Western Geco, Fugro, CGG, and AGS. His extensive navigation expertise underscores his commitment to delivering exceptional service, ensuring that all equipment meets the precise specifications and expectations of clients.

As the General Manager of our UK location, Steve Gowen leads our team with unwavering dedication and proficiency.

David Porteous, our General Manager for the US location, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team. David’s journey with our company began at its inception, when the company was still operating out of the garage apartment of the family home.

After completing his education, David pursued a career in Financial Services in Portland, Oregon. He began his journey with Northwestern, then transitioned to Merrill Lynch before eventually joining Kroger’s General Merchandising Home Office. His background in Finance and Inventory Planning and Management equipped him with invaluable skills in strategic planning, inventory management, and client relations.

Driven by his passion for our industry and a desire to contribute to our growth, David made the decision to return to our company to oversee operations at our US location and warehouse. His extensive knowledge of the industry, coupled with his strong leadership abilities, makes him an invaluable asset to our team. Plus, we’ve discovered he’s quite the helmsman!
